Somehow I stressed my right hand- something to do with using the mouse at the wrong angle I think (I'm still using my old G3 round mouse). So my fingers are sore, kinda like RSI I guess, but should be temporary. ouch

Even though I rarely collect movie/TV stuff, I noticed that the company that made the properties for Battlestar Galactica is selling a lot of items from the series. It would be way cool to have some li'l something in my living room. Nothing big, like a metal door or a full costume- that would just collect dust since I don't have any room to display it. Some thing cute (like a deadly blaster gun), fairly small, and unique.

Did I mention this before? Cuz I don't think I did. Anyway, I love '50's era robots and toy robots and hani just happens to be taking a class on artificial intelligence and I've been listening to some "Dimension X" shows from the fifties on a website. Co-inky-dink? Maybe.

Have you ever seen the American Express commercial with all the travel related objects that look like they're smiling or frowning (a clothes hanger, a suitcase, a yellow airplane, etc.)? I think it's really clever.

On the other hand, I'm sure there are people who see it and think it's just a bunch of random objects. If you tell them what the point is they'll go "Ohhh, now I get it!"

I upgraded my tiny computer today. I was a little afraid that it wouldn't survive the operation, but all is well and I saved about 80 berries (that's 1930'3 slang for money that I picked up reading Dashiel Hammett). I had to use a pancake turner to pry the case open, but the turner and the 'puter both survived. She now has a 320GB drive and an extra 512MB of memory, so I guess I'm king of the world. Or duke anyways.

About a week ago I heard two TV news mentions of a study that said men who stare at women's breasts for 10 minutes a day are healthier for it. This is one of those stories that make you check the calendar to see if it's April 1!

Some Internet research turns a report up on a Fox News page. Take a look at this story . If you read down toward the bottom of the page, you'll find a link to another story on the original "German study" which turns out to be a hoax. That the whole thing is just a joke is not mentioned on the original Fox web page.

So maybe this post is about boobs... in a way.

Nobody was around today and I needed an excuse to get out of the 102 degree heat. Once again So Cal is on fire. You know, the root of California is "cal" as in "calorie" so I suppose that might have something to do with burning. Or I'll pretend it does for now.

Yep, remarkably, I saw another movie today, "District 9." It was the best SF movie I've seen since, hmm... "Minority Report" probably. "Start Trek" was very good, but that's more of an adventure than science fiction because it didn't pose any interesting questions about who we are as humans or the nature of the universe or technology, et and cetera.

I need to go icon shopping soon.

I finally saw "Groundhog Day." It wasn't quite what I expected and I was delighted. What next? Maybe "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." I've always wanted to see "Modern Times" (Chaplin) too.

Are there movies you've always meant to get around to seeing but haven't yet? (It's only 2 hours out of your life after all and you'll probably spend it with LJ otherwise.)

Interesting that several musicians had parents who were (or are) scientists, including Thomas Dolby, KT Tunstall, and Mark Everett (Eels). There must be more, I suppose.

I found some Wallace and Grommet shorts on Hulu. They're are the ones they were selling to finance the first (and only) movie a few years ago. Each one features a different invention from Wallace, this one being Snowman-O-Tron.
